The Taj is formed of predominantly marble, which writer Aldous Huxley found problematic: “Marble, I perceive, covers a multitude of sins”. Still, there are other more favorable poetic descriptions of this astoundingly beautiful mausoleum. Rabindranath Tagore said “the Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time”.
